I completed a ten week internship at Vanilla Resource Pte Ltd from October to December 2018. Even though I was assisting the Business team, my biggest takeaway from the internship is having the privilege to attend court hearings and trials, as I am keen to learn more about Singapore Law.

I was also able to experience what I have set out to achieve during my internship. In addition to administrative work, I was involved in legal work such as attending court hearings and trials, client consultations and commissioning for affidavits. For this, I would like to express my appreciation for my supervisor, Ms. Vivienne Wee, who was considerate towards my learning and interests and shares her knowledge to the best of her ability.

Thanks to the guidance from the different Legal Associates and the two Paralegals who are also completing their internship here, all my queries were answered with patience and support. It was also the same for the business department who are always there when I needed help and most importantly, making my ten weeks worthwhile.

I also enjoyed every meal and conversation we had together at the long table and I believed that this is another result of the company’s flat hierarchy. Apart from that, I have also learnt the importance of communication skills and patience. I feel that these two soft skills have taught me a lot as a person, as they play a crucial role in our daily lives.

Vanilla Resource Pte Ltd has given me a valuable learning experience. I had a great time working with both the Business and Legal teams despite the hurdles I’ve had to overcome. Thank you all for the ten weeks, it was indeed an unforgettable experience.
